14 Truths That Have Changed My Life

Keep me where the Light is

Happy Monday, y'all!  I started making this list in my journal and thought this would be a great opportunity for us all to share.  The key to this list is that these are truths that I have learned from MY life.  These are not things that someone told me or drilled into me.  Let us know if you can relate to any of these:

1.  I can't miss out on what is meant for me.

2.  Loving myself has allowed me to be more vulnerable and thus more outgoing and more impactful.

3.  A peaceful and calm nature is a strength, not a weakness.

4.  Abundance is not just about money. It's a feeling of knowing that you already have everything you need.

5.  I can't change other people, but I can change how I interact with them.

6.  Guilt nags at me in every situation where I have yet to let go and live peacefully with my decisions.

7.  Just because someone is angry, loud, or dismissive towards me doesn't mean they are right.

8.  Failure is temporary.

9.  I don't need constant attention to have a good time and feel sure of myself.

10.  Asking questions is empowering.

11.  The things that other people do have nothing to do with me and everything to do with themselves.

12.  Finding meaning in every moment is more valuable than finishing first.

13.  I don't need to always be right, always have the last word or always be faultless.

14.  The only thing that has prevented me from achieving anything in life is my belief that I could not do it.

What truths and life lessons have you picked up from personal experience that have changed your life??  Share with us in the comments.

My perception is my reality. Therefore, it is more productive and beneficial for me to have a positive outlook on my life.

3. A peaceful and calm nature is a strength, not a weakness.
This is something I want to instill in my life to help relieve the too frequent stress I experience. I want to meditate, rid my body of bad spirits, and just simply exemplify this calm nature described.

5. I can't change other people, but I can change how I interact with them.
This one really stuck out for me because I've learned this the hard way in life.

8. Failure is temporary.
This also touched me because recently, I've experienced a great disappointment in school but now I am gearing up for the next great opportunity. You are certainly right, failure is temporary, a temporary state of mind indeed!

Such a great post, that really helped me reflect on affirmations that I never really thought about. I will definitely be referencing this post on my personal blog in the near future at

#5 I can't change other people, but I can change how I interact with them" is one by which I have lived by for a while now, and I'm often look down on for it. Not sure why, and not likely to change. :) Glad someone else shares the sentiment. Great post as usual!

This was a very great post as most of your posts are!!! My motto for life is everything happens for a reason. Although I usually dont see that reason right away, I have always eventually come to see the reasoning behind something good or bad that has happened in my life or my past. I could go on and on... As I have grown and lived my life, I have learned so much about life and who I am. I refer to my "mistakes/regrets" now as life experiences, because without those experiences I wouldn't be who I am right now typing this!!

I'm glad you all got something out of this post and thanks so much for the kind words. I think it's a great exercise (and I love lists!) and it really helps us to see that we've grown. I don't know about y'all, but even when I think I've totally outgrown something, I can find myself this kind of list also helps me to reinforce what I know that I know that I know. You know? hehe. :)

If my problems are everyone else's fault, they will ALWAYS be my problems.

How people treat me is their karma, how I react to it is my karma.
